CONGRESS PASSES HOMEBUYER TAX CREDIT CLOSING DEADLINE
PRESIDENT OBAMA WILL SIGN INTO LAW
After a close brush with the deadline, Congress has passed an extension of the Homebuyer Tax Credit closing deadline, the Homebuyer Assistance and Improvement Act (H.R. 5623).

The extension applies only to transactions that have ratified contracts in place as of April 30th, 2010 that have not yet closed.

The legislation is designed to create a seamless extension. The new closing deadline for eligible transactions is now September 30th, 2010.

There will be no gap between June 30th and the date the President signs the bill into law.

This victory is the latest example of the effectiveness of your dues dollars and your RPAC contributions.

For additional information on the extension visit www.realtor.org/government_affairs

The lack of inventory seems to be pushing prices up! In JacksonHeights as well as other Queens’ neighborhoods there seems to be a lack of houses, co-ops and condos on the market. Although we are being told by economists that it is a “buyers’ market”, the lack of good properties on the market has created a buzz with the buyers and the sellers!

Check out what NYOne’s coverage in northeastern Queens seems to have the same issues as here in Northwestern Queens. NYONE COVERS Real Estate market. I thought it was my imagination until I saw this video of Bayside, Whitestone (northeastern Queens). Judy Markowitz (a Broker in northeastern queens, Flushing, Whitestone, Bayside, Douglaston etc.) is a fine Broker and understands how the markets work.

The properties in poor condition seem to sit on the market for a long time. Doing work and getting estimates seem to be less popular! Properties in good condition seem to be a top priority! We are also getting multiple offers on select premium properties. We are in a “new” economic world with a new type of market! We all need to be savvy and wise about our financial decisions. Let’s see what the next few months bring our way!

Fight back against all the bad news by supporting a Jackson Heights public school that’s facing some financial hardtimes. The Renaissance Charter School is holding a fundraiser tomorrow, Thursday, night at Novo on 37th Avenue beginning at 7:15 p.m. There will be food, friends and entertainment as you help out TRCS – all for $25. Here’s the deal from PTA head Peggy Heeney:

The Renaissance Charter School invites you to an evening of music, art, inspiration (and raffles!) to celebrate TRCS. This get together is set for Thursday, Jan. 28th from 7:15-9:15 pm at Novo’s Restaurant, 78-23 37th Ave.
Along with a great buffet of Novo’s specialties, we’ll hear music from TRCS musicians, view great student artwork and hear testimonials from TRCS graduates! There will be great prizes raffled off and a silent auction of artwork to support TRCS.
Come and meet some of the great staff and families of TRCS and become part of The Renaissance Charter School family, too!
Tickets are just $25.00 and includes buffet (cash bar). To RSVP contact peggyheeney08@gmail.com or for more info call 646-621-3782.
Thank you for your support and we hope to see you there
