What ever happened to curbing your dog while walking in the street? Since the weather has gotten colder, dog owners have become lazy! As you walk up and down the streets, I see lots of dried up droppings. It only takes about 20 seconds to pick it up. There are garbage cans all over Jackson Heights. You don’t even need to buy something to pick up your dogs droppings. You can save the bags from the grocery store. Let’s try and keep a our Neighborhood clean!

Thanks Stephanie…I noticed the same thing! Great we can get our dogs licensed from ASPCA! We love our dogs.
Kind of off topic, but does anyone know whatever happened to the talk of a doggie run in Jackson Heights? I understand there were plans in the works for one to be located by the highway ramp at 69th Street.
I know it’s been mentioned before but we need some trash cans along 35th avenue, even if every 3 blocks. Personally I avoid walking 37th Ave. with my Buffy (yes, like the Vampire Slayer lol) because she’s not good with crowds – 35th & 34th Ave.s needs cans! Though there are some buildings that put trash bags along the side..which is helpful..beats walking up and down the street with a bag of..well you know what
Hey! Here’s an idea…let’s post pics of our doggies!! Can we? hummm
Deseo, I remember a few years ago when buildings on 35th Avenue maintained trash receptacles on many corners. Unfortunately, residents started complaining about the trash attracting mice. The receptacles were removed as a result.
Thanks, Cooperator, I had no idea…now I understand the lack there of. Walking around the neighborhood you know where the available trash bags/cans are – as long as we all clean up after our little fellows.
I am not sure about the Dog Run or the trash cans. The closest run is on Whitney Avenue & Judge Street in Elmhurst. As far as the run, maybe Len Maniaci of JHBG may know about this. He does all the important work at Travis Park and was also trying to get a ball field for the kids north of Northern Blvd. in the landing path on 79,78 Streets 25 Ave. Get in touch with JHBG and leave Len an email. The trash cans are the Dept. of Sanitation…I did mention this years ago when I was a director of the JHBG! I guess we should try to look into the trash can situation and coordinate with Dept. of Sanitation.

Great point Michele, contacting the Dept. of Sanitation would certainly assist in the clean-up. I too remember when I used to walk our CoCo and their used to be trash cans on every other block. I will be making a call, if others so the same, maybe we will start seeing them again.
P.S. Love your blog!!!
Thanks Tammy…I will talk to a few people also…Maybe if we develop a small plan we will be able to figure out where we need the trash cans. OK this sounds like a plan for cans!
