Jackson Heights Early Learning Center

Jackson Heights Early Learning Center ribbon cutting ceremony went off without a hitch! Rudy Greco along with Tammy Rose, Rachael Cabrera cut the ribbon on Friday, December 14th, 2007. Thanks to the Board of Directors at Terrace View Cooperative, the Architect and Contractor who made a dreary space, happy and cheerful for our kids. Others that made it possible were neighborhood leaders, John Sabini, Danny Dromm for assisting the JHELC Directors to open their new location. There was plenty of neighborhood chatter among the guests while enjoying the food and refreshments.

Tammy Rose and Rachael Cabrera, owners/directors were overcome with joy along with their staff, who worked till all hours to make the event a success. You felt how much they love the JH children and their profession. This is their second location in JH. The other location is at St. Mark’s Parish House. The introduction was done by Ron & Sue Hayduk. The Hayduks are new JH residents, who moved from Manhattan. Their intro for the Early Learning Center was complimentary to the school, as well as, the neighborhood. “We finally got to Mayberry! Jackson Heights is a real community. When I walk down the street there are friendly hellos and lots of caring!” Later that evening speaking with Sue Hayduk she said, “I resisted coming to Jackson Heights because I did not know what it would be like. I only wanted to move to Brooklyn or Manhattan. We came out to visit with friends for dinner one evening, as we began to walk from the subway and made our way past the Berkley I said to Ron, “Why haven’t we looked here for a home?” JH has a secret. The residents love the hood and it is a “real” community. JH residents have always been involved with its appearance and sense of a neighborhood/community. My parents Gertrude& Marcel Beaudoin back in the late 1970s were one of the first organizers of the Jackson Heights Civic Association which later became JHBeautification Group. JHBG

Today, Jackson Heights has become more lively. The historic district and vicinity has become vibrant with laughter, cries and sounds of little lives thriving among the generations who survived the 1980s. The residents kept the spirit and preserved Jackson Heights, as a neighborhood! JH has many musicians, artists, writers, educators, actors and professionals hidden within its residences.

Jackson Heights Early Learning Center Annex has a private entrance located at the corner of 79th Street & 34 Avenue @ Terrace View, 79-10 34th Avenue, Apartment 1X, Jackson Heights, NY 11372 (718) 779-KIDS, JHELCANNEX@AOL.COM
